Deer Valley Angus & Limosin Cattle

The DVF Program

Establishing a BRAND that our customer, both commercial and purebred, can rely on is the foundation for the PROGRAM at Deer Valley Farm.

From the onset of the first purchase of Limousin cattle at Deer Valley, and then later with the purchase of Angus cattle, the mission statement has always been to be a seedstock supplier of superior Angus and Limousin bulls to the most discriminating commercial customer in the business. With this in mind our breeding program is relatively simple, use only the breeds most PROVEN AI SIRES… bulls that will add performance and pounds without sacrificing calving ease and maternal traits that will always be the first ingredient in the success of a cow-calf operation. By utilizing a strict AI program, combined with an intensive embryo transfer program and a HERD SIRE BATTERY made up of leading AI sires from both breeds, we believe we can consistently produce a uniform product that will fit the needs of our commercial customer base and offer genetics that are in demand by other purebred programs.

As you study the pedigree’s represented in our program you will find that the majority of the females we maintain in our purebred herds offer multiple generations of the breeds most proven AI sires. These pedigree’s also offer genetic uniformity which helps us in providing stout-rugged bulls in volume that will transmit that same uniformity to their progeny. Many of the sires we are currently using and those found in our foundation genetics represent cattle with superior carcass merit as well as elite growth and maternal traits and all combinations of what we believe to be the most important economical traits each breed can provide.

Our extensive embryo transfer program here at Deer valley Farm is managed by our staff with the assistance of Dixieland Embryo, Dr. Larry White and Winston Neal. Throughout our history we have concentrated on multiplying the best of the Deer Valley Program. We believe that by producing a large number of ET progeny we can consistently provide uniform flush brothers that are commercial customers enjoy selecting from, provide an influx of the most elite genetics possible into our replacement heifers and also offer a wider selection of our very best through our annual production sales. It is our goal at Deer valley farm to have pastures full of direct daughters produced from our most elite donors.

The marketing program here at Deer Valley Farm consists of a Limousin female sale held the last Saturday in April, each spring and our Angus female sale held the second Friday in November each year. Both female sales feature donors direct from our ET program, pregnancies from our proven donor arsenal, fancy show heifer and donor prospects, bred heifers, spring cow/calf pairs and fall cow/calf pairs. We also market select show heifer prospects privately throughout the year and encourage young junior enthusiasts to contact us to see how the DVF program can be of assistance. We also host two bull sales each year, in the spring of the year our sale date is the third Friday in March and in the fall our Bull sale is the day following our annual Angus female sale. We invite commercial cattleman to give us a call and visit with us about how Deer Valley genetics can work in our ever changing industry – visit our COMMERCIAL MARKETING PAGE to learn more about how we can all work together to add value.

Our nutrition program consists of a high roughage based diet. 100% of the roughage fed at Deer Valley is produced at Deer Valley. We also raise a large amount of the corn that we mix into our rations. Deer Valley bulls are developed to ensure reproductive and structural soundness – we feed our bulls in development pens that are over five acres in size thus ensuring that they get adequate exercise through the development process.

At Deer Valley Farm we are proud to be cattleman and also realize the importance of being good stewards of the land.
